Welcome
Welcome to the new CP family forum. I created this blog so that families could share information about their family members with cerebral palsy in Delaware. I have learned so much from other families. I will start the forum with a question: Where do you go for information and resources on cerebral palsy for your family member?

Great forum! Of course, there is no one stop shopping for CP info in DE...but thru the years, we've heard about programs while at conferences or events in the community i.e. LIFE conference. We started our journey in learning about CP thru the UCP office although info was limited for infants back then. I subscribed to a newsletter out of Minnesota in 1992 which I still receive today. It's called Pacer and it sounds like there is alot going on in Minnesota for children with developmental disabilities. I tapped into the Parent Info Center (in fact visited it early on to get info on CP). Also received their newsletter to help with IEPs. My favorite resource has been other parents.....whether at Leach, Easter Seals, or at the Challenger ball games, there was always conversation about what is new, good, challenging, upcoming, etc. We found out quite well the other night at the parent night at Leach School how beneficial it is for parents to connect.....I believe the concept of mentor parents works in helping families along thru the years....Ali

ReplyDeleteWhat gifts have you bought your child or adult with cp for the holidays this year? What have you bought in the past that they have really enjoyed or used?
ReplyDeleteAs the welfare of your grandchild is paramount,the CS have to be open about plans,inform the court about strengths and weaknesses of family,tell the parents what improvements they must make and of timescales etc.
